We spent some time doing a little green screen magic with Mr. Schneider in our Tech classes this week.
We researched a country: finding out all about the customs, languages, locations, and fun facts of a place in the world. We then took turns doing a green screen photo where it looked like we were actually in our places. The students (and Mrs. W!) were totally hamming it up and posing in libraries, on top of mountains and so forth. We used our info to create a power point presentation and we presented them to the room. The group did a FANTASTIC job learning how to measure length. We first used objects from around the room to measure in non standard units. We used paper clips, erasers, pencils, hands, feet, whatever we could find, to measure. For homework, we did the same thing, except at home using things from our houses. This little darlin even measured her living room in DADS. That's right, she had her father lay down across the living room and she counted how many across. Super cool. I have such cool and creative students, don't I? (and supportive parents too!) We then learned standard measurement, using inches, half inches, and quarter inches.
