Bar Modeling

One of the key skills in Mathematics is that of problem solving. Being able to solve real-life problems in word form is soooooo important!

One of the strategies we use is a bar model.

I had attended some workshops on Singapore math a couple of years ago, so I have some knowledge of the strategies. I love teaching bar modeling, it makes so much sense.

The students did so well on their understanding that I had some of them explain their thinking.

I have been teaching for 25 (!!!) years. You can say that I am a well-rounded teacher, as I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I have had the awesome opportunity to teach gifted students as well as ELL and special needs students.

I am an award winning teacher! I have the honor of being a 2016 state of Illinois Those Who Excel, Teacher of the Year finalist. I am in the top ten teachers in the state of Illinois!

I am passionate about teaching. I love to engage my students in a variety of differentiated activities and love to share them here with you!
