For our latest STEMscopes science unit, we have been studying the ways that plants and animals go through their life cycles. We examined the life cycles of frogs, ladybugs, butterflies, chicks, cicadas, and mammals. The students were amazed (and a little grossed out!) by the life cycle of the cicadas. EWWW! We also examined the life cycles of plants: specifically lima bean, black bean, and grass. We did an investigation of germination of seeds. Some of our seeds did pretty well, others just kinda sat there.... For an art project that made this a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) project, we created a life cycle of a butterfly using dried pasta.
A special thanks to Mr. Renardo for giving a hand (and a Italian language lesson) with the pasta! Comments are closed.
