In Social Studies this year we learned about early colonization and the beginnings of the American Revolutionary War. Part of learning about the early colonies was the way they lived: the ways they worked, learned, ate, dressed, and functioned. We wanted the students to experience that firsthand, so we took them to Naper Settlement in Naperville. The students were able to see a blacksmith, a print shop, a log cabin, and a one room schoolhouse. They learned how to carry water from the river, how to grind corn, make butter, sort eggs, and dance the Virginia Reel! They were good sports (even with the dancing 😛 .) It was a great time, we had beautiful weather for February and lots of learning! Comments are closed.
