Today is election day! As part of our social studies curriculum in government, we discuss the right of voting and the process that people go through in order to vote. One of teacher's fathers is an election judge, and we are fortunate to have an (old) voting booth. So we try to have a "mock" election every year.
We read the book, Duck for President, to the students, and we talked about how United States citizens register to vote and then vote in primary and secondary elections. This year in our state of Illinois there is not a presidential election but a gubernatorial one (for a governor.) I was impressed that my students were already up on current events. A lot of them knew who the candidates were. Anyway....back to good ole duck...he won by a landslide. Always does...I wonder why? 😄 Comments are closed.
