Our first unit in English is that of sentences. We start off by identifying the traits of a sentence: it has a capital letter in the beginning, an ending mark at the end, and it makes sense by having a subject and a predicate. Some of our students were having difficulties forming complete sentences, so it was a good review. We then moved on to types of sentences and learned the traits of declaratives, interrogatives, imperatives, and exclamatory sentences. We worked on identifying those subject and predicates as well. Mr. Schneider, our tech teacher, had an fantastic activity that we did using the new Teams app on our tablets. We combined our learning in grammar with that of tech, Win-Win! As a snowball builds momentum, we went into compound subjects, compound predicates, and as a finale, compound and complex sentences.
Throughout our lessons, the kids found it funny to make up silly sentences. Some of which were hysterical. Comments are closed.
